The Six Assessment Consortia

In a quest to ensure all stakeholders in education – students, educators, parents and the community – have fair, valid and reliable assessments for all students to determine the extent to which students are college and career ready as they exit the pre-k education system, states have come together to form consortia to create these tests. Two consortia, PARCC and Smarter Balanced are creating assessments aligned to the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and math. Two other consortia, WIDA and ELPA21, are creating assessments for students who are English Language Learners. Two additional consortia, DLM and NCSC, are creating assessments for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.
